Today I came across Verner Panton's amazing work. He is considered to be Denmark's most influential furniture and interior designer. His innovative design and architecture caught the world's attention and his work revolutionized the way we view color. He was a truly talented being.

Odessa
Here's the official music video for "Odessa" off of Caribou's upcoming album Swim, which should be out April 20th. I love the song but I'm not sure I like the video. It's really hazy and quite bizarre. But hey, I'll let you guys form your own opinions.

Someone Real
Electro-pop trio Class Actress recently released their debut EP Journal of Ardency on Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor's new label, Terrible Records. I can honestly say I like all of the tracks on it. They have a fun dance sound and Elizabeth Harper's voice is strong and slightly seductive. I predict good things in their future.

Siberia
Emily Hyperion Dubuisson shot these gorgeous photographs in Siberia. The photographs show an intimacy and truth to the daily lives of the locals and I think that they are breathtaking.

Clinging To A Scheme
I first discovered The Radio Dept. when I head the song The Worst Taste In Music. Now they're coming out with a new album on April 21st (after only four years!) titled Clinging To A Scheme on Labrador Records. They've already released the song David last year, but I think my favorite song off the new album will be Never Follow Suit.

Richard Avedon, the revolutionary 50's photographer, truly paved the way for present day fashion photography. His work is utterly classic and his photographs tell a romantic story through his iconic muses.

Tara Donovan
I was just introduced to the artist Tara Donovan. She's from New York and makes amazing room-size floor, wall, and ceiling installations and smaller sculptures with manufactured objects. She has made past pieces with materials such as pencils, fishing lines, glue, nails, and cups just to name a few. I think her art is really beautiful and unique.
"Haze"-clear plastic drinking straws
"Untitled"-styrofoam cups
"Untitled"-paper plates
"Nebulous"-scotch tape
"Moire"-adding machine paper
"Bluffs"-buttons
p.s. thanks Lydia!

Just Go Grab Your Baskets
Their album Dance Mother on IAMSOUND has been out for a while, but Telepathe's Trilogy has remained one of my favorite songs. Give it a listen and tell me you don't love it.

Visiblity Unlimited
Aside from all the reading I have to do for classes, sigh, I still am managing to read a book for myself on the side. I'm currently reading, and loving, Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney. The book is about a man living in Manhattan who loves drugs, partying, women, and the finer things. The story starts out with:
"You are not the kind of guy who would be at a place like this at this time of the morning. But here you are, and you cannot say that the terrain is entirely unfamiliar, although the details are fuzzy. You are at a nightclub talking to a girl with a shaved head. The club is either Heartbreak or the Lizard Lounge. All might come clear if you could just slip into the bathroom and do a little more Bolivian Marching Powder. Then again, it might not."

Truly Majestic
I discovered Patrice when I was walking around Vieux Nice and wandered into a little bohemian Moroccan shop. This song was playing and I somehow miraculously was able to communicate with the shop owner who only spoke French, whereas I speak none, what the music was. I've attached my favorite song off the album Silly Walks Presents Patrice by Patrice. Enjoy!

Bad Behavior
I just finished reading the collection of short stories from the book Bad Behavior by Mary Gaitskill. It was so unique and fresh, despite the fact that it was written in 1988. The way Gaitskill captures the perversity of human nature and relationships is stunning. This was Gaitskill's first book that established her reputation as one of the "sharpest, erotically charged, and audaciously funny writing talents of contemporary literature...Gaitskill delivers powerful stories of dislocation, longing, and desire that depict a disenchanted and rebellious urban fringe generation groping for human connection."
