Dancers In The Rain

This weekend I went to Jackfest for a rain-filled day of music galore. I listened to beats by Slick Rick, Born Ruffians, and DJ ?uestlove. Slick Rick was disappointing, the bookers payed around $8,000 for him to play a 20 minute set at 1pm, say what? Slick Rick just seemed bored while on stage, but maybe he was just preoccupied thinking about his court date in New York later on in the day. I was looking forward to hearing Wise Blood, yet it was a no show type of sit. Born Ruffians was pretty good, they played a bunch of old stuff and the crowd was rocking and singing along. Those boys are pretty cute so there were quite a few 'take your shirt off' croons from the audience as well. DJ ?uestlove was a good time. He spun old and new tunes, but I didn't think it was super impressive, any decent DJ could have done his job, but hey, it's ?uestlove from The Roots, man. Student band Pepepiano also did a pretty sweet job, props. All in all, was Jackfest a success? Debatable...

The Thing You Do To Me

Sorry for the lack of love. These times are busy and stressful but summer is so soon, which for me means a break, and for you means more blog love. I saw Class Actress perform recently and it was amazing. They put on a fabulously fun show and Elizabeth Harper could not be sexier. They were incredibly nice people and I really hope I get to see them play again this summer. I'm eagerly awaiting to hear new material from them...
