Kids Wanna Be So Hard

Take It Easy On Me

I saw Surfer Blood play at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg this past Friday and it was such a great show. These youngsters played a great set with new and classic songs to a sold out audience. Let's be real, majority of the people there were there for Surfer Blood. The Kanine Records showcase also featured Eternal Summers, Grooms, Pepper Rabbit, Xray Eyeballs, Zambri, Dream Diary, and DJ Andy French(of Raven Sings The Blues). All in all, I think Surfer Blood needs to work on their stage presence a little, but other than it was nothing short of a good time.

Vertigo

Last night I went to a talk hosted by Broadway god Jordan Roth with Bono and The Edge. These two rockstars are truly amazing people. They were charming and smart and have contributed so much to the world both musically and culturally. The talk mainly focused on round two of their play Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which has been completely reworked due to the numerous problems the play had months back. I wish Bono and The Edge talked a little more about their humanitarian work, but overall it was interesting to hear how writing music for theatre compares and contrasts with their past work, and how the overall story of Spider-Man relates to their personal lives. Bono and The Edge are defiantly creative dudes who live incredible lives. The talk was well attended, even Salman Rushdie was there, and fingers crossed that the opening of the play tonight goes smoothly.

The Bedroom Covers

I just stumbled upon 'The Bedroom Covers', a album recorded by The Morning Benders before they relocated to Brooklyn and recorded their successful, not to mention awesome, album, 'Big Echo'. Much as the title suggests, the band recorded a collection of covers ranging from The Smiths, Paul Simon, The Ronettes, and Fleetwood Mac, just to name a few. The album was originally posted on the band's website as a free download, but has long expired, but luckily for us, a fan has keep the tunes alive! Enjoy the treats!

I Ask Myself How Stupid Can You Get

It's The Summer, Full of Color

Wow. Back in NYC and woah it's steamy. I had an incredibly busy past month and the lack of posting was totally not okay, my apologies for my sins. I have 20 more pages left to write before I can officially relax and do my thang. Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons was super fun (shout out to my homies Kim G and Sonya Morgan - loved the run-in at Nello's wink wink). I'm getting ready for more fun times and lots of exciting summer concerts to look forward to (cough Atlas Sound, Surfer Blood, Cold Cave, Phantogram, Flying Lotus, and so many more!) Work at Columbia Records starts on the 6th! Get ready for a wonderful summer and a fruitful amount of posts from yours truly. Enjoy the silly video for Graffiti 6's 'Stare Into The Sun'.
